(Atlanta) - Atlanta-based FirstKey Homes announced today it has partnered with RentTrack by Self, the multi-family leader and pioneer of reporting rent payments to the three largest credit reporting agencies in the United States. The partnership provides FirstKey Homes’ residents free credit reporting and financial literacy support.

Since its inception in 2014, RentTrack by Self has empowered millions of renters to enhance their credit scores by reporting their on-time rent payments.

New residents of FirstKey Homes can choose to enroll in RentTrack, have their on-time rent payments reported to the three largest credit agencies, and track their score while protecting their identity. With RentTrack by Self, residents can view their score, see factors affecting their credit, and track changes with monthly updates. They can also report past rent payments of up to two years, for a one-time fee (active subscription and eligibility required).

Rent payments are used to formulate an individual’s FICO 9 score and can be used to make credit decisions for lenders who look at more than just a credit score.  Rent reporting builds history in a consumer’s credit file without adding debt.  

FirstKey Homes also partners with Knowledge of Financial Education (KOFE), an online platform that provides financial wellness resources to residents, including seminars and podcasts, that are focused on such topics as credit, budgeting and mortgage preparation.

In addition to these resident-facing programs, FirstKey Homes strategically invests in nonprofit organizations whose missions focus on financial literacy. In 2023, FirstKey Homes established a partnership with Operation HOPE through financial and in-kind donations. Operation HOPE’s mission is to expand economic opportunity, making free enterprise work for everyone through programs focused on homeownership, credit and money management, financial disaster recovery, and more. FirstKey Homes is also a founding corporate member of Operation HOPE’s 1865 Project, an initiative dedicated to inclusive capitalism that recognizes financial literacy as the civil rights issue of this generation.
